New Delhi: The central government has made a big announcement for the government employees before Diwali. The government has decided to increase their Dearness Allowance by 3 percent as a Diwali gift. This means that the central employees will now get 31 percent dearness allowance. More than one crore central employees and pensioners will get the benefit of this.

The announcement will be effective from July 1

According to the announcement of the central government, the new increase in dearness allowance will be considered effective from July 1 this year. The government had earlier increased the dearness allowance (DA Hike) by 11 per cent to 28 per cent in July itself. After that, now it has increased by 3 percent. Due to this, now government employees and pensioners will get 31 percent DA.

About one crore people benefit

This announcement of the government will benefit 47.14 lakh central employees and 68.62 lakh pensioners. This announcement made on the occasion of Diwali will cost the government Rs 9,488 crore annually.

Why did the government announce

The Labor Ministry recently released the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI) data for June, July and August. The index of AICPI, released in August, showed that it has reached 123 points. The higher the index rises, the higher the level of inflation indicates. On the basis of this, the Central Government announces the Dearness Allowance (DA) of the employees.
