Income Tax Forms 15CA/15CB deadline extended: The government has once again relaxed the rules for filing Income Tax Form 15C/15CB electronically.

Income Tax Forms 15CA/15CB deadline extended: The government has once again relaxed the rules for filing Income Tax Form 15C/15CB electronically. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has once again extended the deadline for filling Form 15CA/15CB manually to August 15, 2021. Earlier, relaxation was given till July 15. As per the Income Tax Act, 1961, both these forms are required to be filed electronically. The CBDT has decided to extend the deadline in view of the problem in electronic filing on the income tax portal.

15 august new deadline

According to the statement issued by the Finance Ministry, CBDT has now extended the deadline for manual filing of these forms. Now taxpayers can submit both the forms in manual format to the authorized dealer till August 15, 2021. Authorized dealers have been asked to accept both the forms by August 15, 2021. The CBDT has said that the facility of uploading both the forms on the e-filing portal for generating the Document Identification Number (DIN) will be given later.

Who has to fill this form

Before giving the authorized copy for any foreign remittance, taxpayers have to upload Form 15CA along with Chartered Accountant’s certificate in Form 15CB on the e-filing portal. Earlier, the deadline for submitting Form 15CA/15CB in manual format was July 15, 2021, in view of the problem with the new portal for e-filing of income tax.

Problems with the new IT portal

The new portal was launched by the Income Tax Department on 7 June. Through the new portal, the government aims to make all other compliances from return filing to more taxpayer friendly. But, the new website is facing problems from the first day of launch. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman herself had asked Infosys to fix it on priority. Infosys is the vendor developing the new tax portal.
