This will increase the salary of the employees in August. The departments where the hike in DA has been implemented include Indian Railways, Department of Post and Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs). The employees working here will get the benefit of increase in HRA along with increase in Dearness Allowance (DA). Explain that the government has also increased the HRA after the DA rate has reached 28 percent. That is, the central employees will get double benefit.


The Finance Ministry has said that the President has approved 28 percent DA with effect from July 1, 2021. Employees and pensioners will start getting the increased DA amount on 1st January 2020, 1st July 2020 and 1st January 2021 from August. After the order of the Finance Ministry, the Executive Director Pay Commission of Indian Railways, II MK Gupta has directed to implement it here. Along with this, the Assistant Director General of the Department of Post, DK Tripathi has also asked to implement it in all circles. Similarly, Under Secretary Shamsul Haque has also ordered to increase DA from 17 percent to 28 percent of the employees getting salary under 7th pay scale in all CPSEs.

House rent also increased

After increasing the DA, the government has also revised the House Rent Allowance (HRA). HRA has been increased because DA has crossed the 25 per cent mark.

How much HRA increased

According to the order of the Finance Ministry, now central employees will get 27 percent, 18 percent and 9 percent house rent allowance according to their city. This classification is according to the X, Y and Z class cities. That is, the central employee who lives in X Class City will now get more HRA. After this to the Y Class and then to the Z Class.

How much HRA was getting earlier

Harishankar Tiwari, Assistant Secretary General, All India Audit and Accounts Association said that the method of HRA has changed in the 7th Pay Commission. Its 3 categories – X, Y and Z have been made. According to the city, the employees were earlier getting 24 percent, 18 percent and 9 percent HRA. It was decided at that time that when the DA crosses the 25 percent mark, it will be revised.
