Addressing the Global Fintech Fest organized by NPCI-IAMA, UIDAI Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Saurabh Garg said that there is immense potential to leverage Aadhaar in the fintech sector.
Verification rate reduced from Rs 20 to Rs 3
He said, we have reduced the rate per verification from Rs 20 to Rs 3. It aims to ensure that various agencies and institutions can make better use of the digital infrastructure created by the government. It is necessary to use these infrastructure to make people’s life easier with dignity.
Aadhar system used for 99 crore e-KYC so far
Till now, Aadhaar system has been used for 99 crore e-KYC (Know Your Customer). UIDAI does not share biometrics with anyone and expects all its partners to maintain the same level of security and privacy as does the authority.
Let us tell you that you do not have to pay any money to get a new Aadhar card. This service is free. You will have to pay a charge for updating Aadhaar i.e. correction in name, address, date of birth, e-mail etc. There is a charge of Rs 50 for demographic update and Rs 100 for biometric update (with/without demographic update).
Government schemes are linked with Aadhaar
The Narendra Modi government has linked all the schemes with Aadhaar. Around 311 central welfare schemes from 54 ministries come under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) platform using Aadhaar. PM-Kisan Nidhi scheme for farmers is based on Aadhaar platform, in which about 10 crore farmers are being transferred 2000 rupees after every four months.
Apart from this, PM Ujjwala Yojana and PM Garib Kalyan Yojana, in which free food grains are being distributed to the poor. The Aadhaar platform is being used here as well. Aadhaar Verification means that the Aadhaar number is being used to correctly identify the beneficiary of a scheme.
