Good News: Wipro gave good news, salary of junior employees will increase from September 1

New Delhi. Amidst the economic activities affected by Covid-19, IT company Wipro Limited on Friday said that it will increase the salary of its junior employees from September 1. Wipro will introduce Merit Based Increment (MSI) for all eligible employees up to Band B3 (Assistant Manager and below) with effect from September 1, the company said in a statement. He said that the company had announced to increase the salary of about 80 percent eligible employees falling in these band categories on January 1, 2021. This is the second salary hike this year.



The company said that as announced earlier, all eligible employees of all Band C1 (manager and above posts) will get the benefit of increment from June 1. Wipro said, “On an average, wage growth for offshore employees will be in the high single digits while it will be in the mid-single digits for onsite employees. The company will reward top performers with higher pay hikes.” The company, however, did not give details of the total salary hikes. Wipro generally hikes salaries during June. Employees in Wipro have been categorized into five categories (A to E). It has the highest number of employees in the B3 band, which is the highest among the company’s 1.97 lakh employees.

Wipro CEO Thierry Delaporte gets $87 million salary

Wipro CEO Thierry Delaporte received a salary package of $ 87 lakh (about Rs 64.3 crore) in the financial year 2020-21. Wipro informed the stock exchange that this salary was paid to Delaport for the period July 6, 2020 to March 31, 2021 and includes one-time cash, annual share grant, one-time RSU (limited share unit). Delaporte, a former Capgemini executive, took over as the CEO and managing director of Wipro on July 6. He replaced Abidali Neemuchwala in the post. According to the information, Delaport was given a salary and allowances of $13.1 million (Rs 9.6 crore), commission and variable pay of $15.4 million and other benefits of $51.8 million. He was also given long-term compensation (delayed benefit) of $7,58,719 during this period.
