The tea and snacks available at the airport are quite expensive. But now this snack will not be heavy on the pocket. The government is making preparations on a large scale for this. Economy zones will be created in airports. Due to this, the prices of food items are expected to fall by 60-70 percent. Due to which people will get relief from high prices.
Airport Rules: Food items will also be available at affordable prices at the airport. Airport Authority of India (AAI) is preparing to create an economy zone at the airport for this. Due to this, now you will be able to drink tea at a lesser price. You will also be able to have breakfast. Affordable tea, water, breakfast will be available in this economy zone. However, there will be no seating arrangement here like in a restaurant. Passengers will be able to buy food items from here at a cheaper rate. AAI officials say that food items will be available here at about 60-70 percent cheaper. Currently, a tea at the airport is available for about Rs 125 to Rs 200. But in the economy zone, it will be available between Rs 50-60.
In these economy zones, you will be able to take food from the counter in the same way. Just like you go to the food zone of malls and take food. However, after taking food in malls, you can sit there and enjoy the food, which will not be possible at the airport. Preparations are also underway to provide On The Go facility to people to pack their food and take it with them. Actually, expensive food puts an extra burden on airports and passengers have complained about it many times.
When will the economy zones be ready?
According to media reports, Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu has held several rounds of meetings in this matter. A consensus has been formed to start work on this. Preparations will be made to create such zones by discussing with AAI and other food outlets serving at the airport as well as new agencies. This scheme will first be implemented at the newly built airports. They will be designed accordingly. After this, the place for Eco Zone at the remaining airports will be selected and then preparations will be started to develop such zones.
Samosa worth Rs 10 is available for Rs 100
At present, a samosa worth Rs 10 is available for Rs 100 in all the airports of the country. Due to which the common man is not able to enjoy food at the airport. But the central government is now going to provide better food arrangements at the airport for the common passengers. Now food and drinks will be available at affordable prices at the airport very soon.
What will be the capacity?
According to sources, no rules have been decided yet regarding these zone areas. This will be decided according to the size of the airport and the number of aircraft and passengers. At small and medium airports, such space will be created that should have 6-8 shops and should have the capacity to handle at least 200 passengers per hour.
