New Delhi: Children will be sent through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) under Midday Meal Scheme. Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ has approved a proposal to provide an amount equal to the cost of cooking for all eligible children of the Mid Day Meal Scheme.
11.8 crore students will get financial help
In this way, 11.8 crore students will get cash money through DBT. This will give momentum to the mid-day meal scheme. This is different from the government of India’s announcement of distribution of free food grains at the rate of 5 kg per person per month to about 80 crore beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PM-GKAY).

Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ tweeted, ‘Central government will provide financial assistance through DBT to about 11.8 crore students under MDM scheme. For this, another 1200 crore rupees will be given in the fund.
