Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also asked top officials and ministers to ensure that public grievances are redressed promptly. He has asked secretaries to devote one day a week for this work and state ministers to monitor it.
Preparations are being made to take major action against employees who are not performing well and are involved in corruption. It is reported that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked the Union Secretaries to evaluate the employees on the basis of rules. At present, nothing has been said officially about this. The special thing is that under the rules, the government can give retirement to any employee.
There are reports that PM Modi held discussions with all Union ministers and secretaries on Wednesday. The Times of India report quoted sources as saying that during the talks he mentioned 56 (j) of the CCS (Pension) Rules. Under this, if it is felt that a government employee is not fit to continue in service, then he can be retired.
However, if the government is retiring someone compulsorily, then that employee will have to be given three months’ notice or three months’ salary and allowances.
These employees may be affected
According to the report, employees who have reached the age of 55 years may be affected by this rule. The newspaper has told about Rule 48 that when a government employee completes 30 years of qualifying service, it may be necessary to retire him in public interest at any time. However, such officers have the option to respond and go to court against the order.
Orders to pay attention to complaints
PM Modi has also asked top officials and ministers to ensure that public complaints are resolved immediately. He has asked secretaries to devote one day in a week for this work and state ministers to monitor it.
