The deceased has been identified as Babu Lal Yadav, an army soldier by profession. According to reports, the gun used in the firing belonged to Babu Lal Yadav.

Confirming the incident, Sonbhadra Superintendent of Police Amarendra Pratap Singh said that the groom and the victim were friends. He said Yadav was immediately rushed to the hospital but died during treatment. Talking to the media, the Superintendent of Police said that the groom has been taken into custody and an FIR has also been registered. Further investigation is on in the matter.
