Gun license Rules: Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has directed Delhi Police to issue fresh licenses to well-known shooters for the whole of India instead of just Delhi. Officials of Raj Niwas have given this information on Sunday. The Lieutenant Governor took note of the fact that these famous shooters have to travel to different parts of the country for sports. Along with this, the Lieutenant Governor has also increased the quota of cartridges given to shooters. Earlier they were given only 20 cartridges every year but now they will be given 10,000 bullets every year.
Officials said that the Lieutenant Governor has taken important steps to make the licensing process for weapons easy and convenient. Till now there were complaints of irregularities and corruption in the licensing process, but now this step of LG will provide important benefits to those applying for the license and especially shooting sportspersons will benefit from it. While the Lieutenant Governor ordered to dispose of the pending applications for licenses as soon as possible, he also asked to ensure that new licenses are also issued within the time limit. LG said that this process should be completed through online portal.
Officials said that the LG has also asked to simplify the process of renewing arms license. LG said that the time period for completing the arms license process has not been mentioned on the currently existing online portal. Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena has told Delhi Police that all the services like fresh license, renewal, area validity, registration, sale of weapons etc. should be done within the time limit. The Lieutenant Governor has ordered the police to dispose of 6,000 pending petitions for licenses by the end of this year.
He said that all unnecessary documents required for fresh license and renewal should be removed immediately. He has asked to improve and modify the online portal related to arms license by the end of March.
What will happen in the new portal
Now along with applying for the license through the new online portal, applicants can schedule their interview as per their convenience. They can give this interview through video conference or video call. This step has been taken so that people do not face any problem in obtaining license for weapons and there is no corruption in it.
