Gurugram News: Bulldozers ran on 9 illegal farmhouses in Gurugram’s Aravalli Hills, NGT ordered

According to forest department surveys, there are at least 500 such farmhouses built illegally on Aravalli land in Gurugram, concentrated in areas such as Gwal Pahari, Garatpur Bass, Sohna and Manesar.




A team of Gurugram Sohna Municipal Council demolished nine illegal farmhouses built in the Aravalli Hills area in Raisina village here on Wednesday. A drive was launched against nine illegal farmhouses in which a boundary wall, tin sheds and pillars were demolished. In December, 2020, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) ordered the demolition of all illegal farmhouses on forest land in the Aravalli hills by January 31.

A similar campaign against illegal structures in Manesar was launched on January 29 by the Forest Department of Gurugram. According to officials, the operation started at 1 pm and it took several hours to demolish nine illegal structures with the help of earthmovers. Apart from the officials of the city council, 100 police personnel were also present on the occasion.

The two farmhouses were given two days,

Praveen Raghav, an official of the Sohna Municipal Council, said, “Earlier a notice was served to the owners of these illegal structures. Two farmhouse owners claimed that they have some legal documents of their properties so we have given them two days to produce those documents. Further action will be taken against such illegal structures after the appointment of duty magistrate next week.
