Government of India is now implementing the rule of hallmarking jewellery in different parts of the country to protect people from adulterated gold jewellery. However, this rule was made in the country only on 23 June 2021.

Hallmarking Gold Rules: Gold jewelry without hallmarking is still being sold at many places in the country. Regarding this, on Thursday, the government announced that now gold jewelry will not be sold without hallmarking in 18 more districts of different states. Let us tell you, since June 23, 2021, when the rule of hallmarking has come into force, till now about 40 crore gold jewelry has been hallmarked. The government is implementing it in different phases in different parts of the country.

Rule implemented in these states

The Government of India is now implementing the rule of hallmarking jewelry in different parts of the country to protect people from adulterated gold jewelery. However, this rule was made in the country on 23 June 2021 itself. But, it is being implemented in a phased manner in different districts. The 18 districts in which the government has announced to implement it on Thursday are Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Odisha, Puducherry, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. With this, now there are 361 such districts in the country, where jewelry and gold artifacts without hallmarking will not be sold at the jewelery shop.

The number of registered jewelers is also increasing

The government is now working on the registration of jewelers in the country. This is the reason why the number of registered jewelers in the country has also increased a lot compared to earlier. Earlier, where the number of registered jewelers was only 34,647, it has now increased to 1,94,039. Apart from this, the number of hallmarking centers has also increased from 945 to 1,622.
