IRDAI, the regulator of the insurance sector in the country, has made a big announcement. Now people will be able to buy health insurance even after the age of 65 years. Let us understand what changes have happened in the rules.
Health Insurance Policy: Whenever a person has to go to the hospital, many times his entire life’s earnings and savings go into paying the bill. To avoid this, people buy health insurance as security. Now, so that more and more people can get the facility of health insurance, Insurance Regulator IRDAI has made a big announcement related to it.
To broaden the health insurance sector and promote people’s safety, IRDAI has abolished the age limit of 65 years for purchasing a policy. This means that now if people want to buy a new health insurance policy even after the age of 65, they can do so.
This will also benefit those children whose parents have crossed the age of 65. Now if he wants, he can also buy a new separate health policy for his parents. While IRDAI has removed the age limit of 65, it has not set any new age limit in its place. With this, it will now be easy to buy health insurance at any age. This will help save more and more people in the country from unexpected hospital expenses.
New rules will be considered effective from April 1
Currently, if a person above the age of 65 years wanted to take a new health insurance policy, he was not allowed to do so. Now these new rules of IRDA have become effective from April 1. For this, IRDA has also issued a gazette notification.
