The cyclonic circulation lies over north-east Bay of Bengal and west-central Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh coast at lower tropospheric level. Another cyclonic circulation is expected to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal next week.
Weather Update Today: Monsoon activity will increase once again in the month of September. Along with this, warning of heavy rain has been issued in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Orissa. There will be a change in the weather in Delhi too. Strong winds have been predicted, while in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh also a forecast of change in weather has been issued in the second week.
Orange alert for heavy rain
Today, the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert of heavy rain in Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh. Landslide and thunderstorm warnings have been issued. Along with this, a drop of 2 to 3% in temperature will be recorded. With the drop in temperature, an increase in humidity will be seen. Significant changes can be seen in the weather in Himachal and Uttarakhand also. However, there is going to be a pause in the rain activity in Himachal. Whose benefits will be given to the people. In some areas the weather may change from Saturday to Sunday till Wednesday. Rain warning has been issued in 19 states. Scattered rain will continue in Uttarakhand as well.
Rainfall activity in Himachal and Uttarakhand came to a halt due to weakening of monsoon during the last week of August. However, in some areas, there will be a period of rain and along with the scorching heat, an increase in temperature can also be seen. After September 4, monsoon may become active once again in Himachal and Uttarakhand.
Weather system
- According to the Meteorological Department, the monsoon line is close to the foothills of the Himalayas.
- Another line extends from Northeast Bihar to Northeast Bay of Bengal.
- A cyclonic circulation is situated at a height of 5.8 km over some parts of Madhya Pradesh. Due to which monsoon can once again gain momentum.
Alert in these states today
Today, moderate rain warning has been issued in Andaman and Nicobar Islands while red alert for heavy rain has been issued in Manipur, Tripura, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam. Heavy rain may be seen at some places. A rain alert has also been issued today in the areas adjacent to the Himalayas of West Bengal.
According to Director General of Meteorological Department, Mrityunjay Mohapatra, there is a possibility of normal rainfall in September. Even though there is heavy rain in September, it is estimated to be less than normal during June to September.
Effect of el nino
The major reason behind the lack of rain has been recorded in August. The effect of El Niño was observed in the equatorial Pacific Ocean. Due to which the pace of monsoon has been stopped. During this, there is a movement in the sea surface temperature of the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal. Due to which the effect of El Nino can be changed. Soon the speed of clouds will increase and the speed of monsoon is going to increase.
Scattered rain can also be seen in Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu including Maharashtra, Vidarbha. However, an increase in temperature is being seen once again in Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu. Weather forecast has been issued soon in these areas.
After Saturday, there is a change in the weather in many states. Along with this, an increase of 1 to 2% in temperature can be seen. Along with this, a warning has also been issued regarding strong winds and lightning in many areas. There will be clouds in the sky. A forecast of strong wind has been issued in Delhi. There may be significant changes in the weather in Haryana and Punjab after 7 days, while the increase in temperature will continue in Rajasthan. An increase in temperature will also be seen in Gujarat.

- There is a possibility of widespread rain and storm over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep.
- There may be rain and thundershowers in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Maharashtra, Goa, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
- There is a possibility of widespread rain and storm over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
