Holiday Special Train: Holiday special train has started on Kalka-Shimla heritage track from 18th December. 80 percent passengers traveled in the train on the very first day. Holiday special train will be run by Railways from 18 December 2023 to 15 January 2024. There are total seven coaches in it. The train has three general coaches, two chair cars and two first class coaches.
Holiday Special Train: Holiday Special Train has been started from December 18 on the Kalka-Shimla Heritage Track declared a World Heritage by UNESCO. 80 percent passengers traveled in the train on the very first day. The train left Kalka at 12:20 pm and reached Shimla at around 6:25 pm. During this period, train stoppages have been made in Dharampur, Barog, Solan city of Solan. Holiday special train has been started for the convenience of tourists coming to Shimla before Christmas and New Year. It will be run by the Railways till January 15, 2024.
There are total seven coaches in it. The train has three general coaches, two chair cars and two first class coaches. The fare for first class compartment has been fixed at Rs 790 per passenger, chair car (EV) at Rs 945, second class at Rs 75 and general fare at Rs 50. The fare of the holiday special train is higher than other trains. It has 206 seats.
Flood in shimla
Every year thousands of tourists come to Hills Queen Shimla to celebrate Christmas and New Year. Holiday special trains are run for them. These days, 7 trains including the holiday special train are running between Kalka and Shimla. These include Himalayan Queen, Shivalik Deluxe, Kalka Shimla Express, Himdarshan, Kalka Shimla Up Mix-Down Mix, Kalka-Shimla Main Train. Now holiday special has been run for tourists. It is noteworthy that Kalka Shimla Heritage Track is a 108 year old track. It has been given heritage status. Railway officials say that the holiday special train was run on the first day with 80 percent booking. Efforts will be made to provide better facilities to the passengers.

The holiday special train from Kalka will depart at 12:20 pm and reach Shimla station at 6:30 pm. This train will have stoppages at Dharampur, Barog, Solan. This train will stop for 2 minutes at Dharampur, 7 minutes at Badog and 2 minutes at Solan. In return, the train will depart from Shimla at 9:40 am and reach Kalka at 3:05 pm.
