New Delhi: A new standard has been set for house tax assessment in cities. The bodies will also have to inform the directorate while determining this every three months.
While conducting ward-wise survey, it will be seen whether there has been an increase in the number of houses. It will also be ascertained in the survey whether any additional construction has taken place in the existing houses. House tax will be determined on the basis of this.
The Directorate of Local Bodies has said in the instructions sent to all the bodies in this regard that the indicator has been determined in the meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary to achieve the target of one trillion dollar economy of Uttar Pradesh. On the basis of this, house tax will be assessed quarterly by ascertaining the number of buildings located in the municipal bodies.
For this, the period will be from 1st April to 30th June, 1st January to 31st March, and 1st April to 30th June. Its details will also be sent to the Directorate of Local Bodies on a quarterly basis only. Even after this, it is not being informed by the civic bodies on time. The bodies have been asked to make it available on time.
The state government wants to make the civic bodies self-reliant. For this, collection of house tax is necessary. That’s why civic bodies have been instructed to collect 100% house tax and every house and establishment built in the city should be brought under its ambit.
