How does this card work
A contactless debit or credit card is a special type of chip card that works on Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. This does not require placing the card and inserting the PIN number in the POS or card reader machine for the transaction. It is only kept near the POS machine and paid by putting the fixed amount.
Transactions can be done up to Rs 5000
According to the latest circular of the Reserve Bank of India, you can transact or pay up to Rs 5000 in India with such a card. Before 1 January 2021, this limit was only up to 2000 rupees.
These types of cards are more safe
EMV chip, PIN card and contactless NFC card are considered safer than magnetic striped cards. In contactless NFC cards, the card is read and placed near the card reader.
