If you are booking a ticket for a train, then you should also take the insurance that comes with the ticket. This insurance, which is available even in less than 50 paise, is of great use to you.

Often whenever we book a train ticket, once we verify the journey details and make the payment. But, in haste or intentionally do not take train insurance given by Indian Railways. But, do you know that this insurance which comes in less than 50 paise can prove to be very useful for you. Also, know in which situations this insurance can be useful for you…

This facility was compulsorily available to all customers on booking train tickets through IRCTC. But from September 2018, a minimum charge is charged for this. If the amount of insurance premium is less than 50 paise, it is advised that everyone choose this option while booking the ticket.

Under Train Travel Insurance, Rs 10 lakh is available in the event of death or temporary disability. This insurance is very useful in case of train accident or any similar situation during the journey. In case of permanent partial disability, the coverage of insurance is up to Rs.7.5 lakh. Up to Rs 2 lakh is available for hospitalization and treatment during that time. This amount is over and above the death and disability coverage. Coverage is available under this insurance for train accident, theft, dacoity or any such situation.

What is the claim filing process? – IRCTC has tied up with three insurance companies for this. These three companies are Bhartiya AXA General Insurance, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance, Shriram General Insurance Company and ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company Limited. You have to keep in mind that you are buying this insurance from any one of these three companies.

It is being provided to you through IRCTC. In such a situation, all such claims are directed to the website of the insurance company itself. After purchasing the insurance at the time of booking the ticket, the policy document is sent to you via email.

The most important thing for you to keep in mind is that the concerned company has to fill the nomination details. If you do not do this, then if necessary, its settlement is done to the legal heir.
