How to activate UAN number, EPFO has told this step by step process

0

If you are a salaried employee and your PF is deducted, then you must be familiar with the Universal Account Number ie UAN. A UAN is a 12-digit unique number. It is a permanent number and is valid for the lifetime of an EPFO member. Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) is deposited through the Universal Account Number (UAN).

If you want to check your PF balance, then UAN has to be activated first. At the time of changing the job, you have to share your UAN with the new employer, so that your previous balance can be transferred to the new account. After UAN is activated, you can check your PF balance online.

UAN is also written in the pay-slip of the employees. If you do not see a UAN on your pay slip, you can contact the Finance Department of your company to find out the UAN. The Employees Provident Fund Organization has tweeted to its subscribers the process of activating the UAN. Let us know step by step process.

  • First the employee has to go to www.epfindia.gov.in.
  • Now you have to select ‘Our Services’ and click on ‘For Employees’.
  •  Now you have to click on ‘Member UAN’ / ‘Online Services’.
  •  Now you have to click on ‘Activate Your UAN’ available under ‘Important Links’ on the right side.
  •  Now you have to enter your basic details like UAN, name, date of birth, mobile number and captcha code.
  • After this you have to click on ‘Get Authorization Pin’.
  •  Now you will receive OTP on your registered mobile number.
  • You have to click on ‘I Agree’ and enter OTP.
  • Finally, you have to click on ‘Validate OTP and Active UAN’. With this, your UAN will be activated.
