How to apply for passport online in india 2021, know full process

Just a few years before the Indian government took steps towards the digital revolution, the process of creating passports was made online. Today, people can easily apply for a passport by going to the official website at home. All the documents for it can also be submitted online. If you have not yet applied for a passport, we are telling you the complete process step by step, by following which you can apply for a passport without any hassle.




How to create an online passport?

To create an online passport, you must first go to the official website of Passport Seva https://www.passportindia.gov.in/. Here you can register yourself by clicking on the New User box.

Now click on Register

Here you will be asked for information about the nearest passport office, e-mail ID, mobile number, date of birth, log-in ID etc. After filling in all this information, click on the last option / button labeled Register.

Log in with the login ID

Then go back to Passport Seva’s website and click on the green Login button that appears on the home page. Type your email id here and click Continue. You will then be asked to type in your e-mail, password and the characters created in the image. After doing so, click on Login.

Forms must be filled online

Then a new window will open in front of you. Here you will see the Apply for Fresh Passport / Reissue of Passport option. Click on it. Here you will find two options. You can download the first form, fill it up, upload it to the website again and you can fill up the second form online.

Now click on this option

To fill up the online form you have to click on the option to click here to fill the application form online. Here Alternative 2 is present within the page. We will instruct you to choose this option, as this is the easiest way to apply for a passport.

Choose the option according to your need

On the next page you have to choose between a new passport or a re-issue, normal or immediate, 38 pages or 60 pages. Select the option according to your convenience and need and then click on Next page.

Click on the Submit Application button

You will need to provide personal information on the next page. Keep in mind that the information you are providing should be in accordance with the documents you have. If you have any doubts you can check it in the official instruction booklet. After filling the form, click on the Submit Application button at the bottom right.

Here you will find the payment option

Once you have completed the form, go back to the web page mentioned in step number nine. Click View Saved / Submitted Applications. Here you can see the application that you submitted a while ago. Then click on the radio button next to it. Then click on Pay And Schedule Appointment.

Here’s how to find the nearest Passport Service Center

Select Online Payment and click Next. You will now see a list of Passport Service Centers in the city on the screen. The nearest date and time for the appointment will also be mentioned. Select an option of your choice from the drop down menu next to PSK Location. Then type the characters created in the image. Then click on Next.

Now click on Pay and Book Appointment. It will take you to the Payment Gateway page. As soon as your payment is completed, you will once again reach the Passport Seva website. You will now see a page with Appointment Confirmation written on it. Full details of the appointment from Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) can be seen on this page. Click on Print Application Receipt.




Don’t forget to print out

On the next page you will see a detailed view of the application. Click on Print Application Receipt once again. After doing this you will be able to take a print out of your appointment confirmation. You will need a print out of this receipt for entry at the Passport Service Center. Now you reach the Passport Service Center at the scheduled time. It will take you about 2 hours to get there. You will receive your passport only after the police verification has been completed.
