Delay in tax refund may be the reason
There may be several reasons behind delaying or refusing the tax department’s refund. Often taxpayers give wrong bank account details in ITR form causing problems. While filling the ITR, special care should be taken that the bank details should be correct. In this, the bank name, account number and IFC code of 11 digits must be filled in correctly. Also, it is necessary to ensure that the bank account you are giving to get the refund is linked to the e-filing account and PAN. Another common reason for delay or denial of refund is the mistake made while calculating the refund.
Can the mistake be rectified?
If you feel from the status report that you have made a mistake in the bank details while filling the ITR, then you can rectify it. For this, you have to login on the e-filing portal https://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/home. After that go to My Account and click on Refund re-issue request. Follow the steps given there and enter the correct information of your bank. If you have entered the correct details by filling the ITR, then you will get the refund in a few days.
