Due to security concerns, many people do not want everyone to know their Aadhaar number, but they can also use Aadhaar. In view of such concerns of the people, UIDAI has given the facility of Masked Aadhaar Card.
What is masked base
- Aadhaar number is a 12-digit special identification number.
- The first 8 digits are hidden in the masked base
- That is, XXXX XXXX 8888 appears when the common Aadhaar number 8888 8888 8888 is changed on a masked basis.
- This Aadhaar card works like a normal Aadhaar but does not show your full number.
- Apart from the number, there is no change in the masked Aadhaar other information like photograph, name etc.
How to download masked Aadhaar Card
- First https://uidai.gov.in/ visit
- Click download Aadhaar in Get Aadhaar of My Aadhaar
- After filling the Aadhaar number here, click on the option of Masked Aadhaar given below
- After filling in information, click on OTP
- After giving the information of OTP, you will get the option to download a masked Aadhaar.
- Download Aadhaar can be opened with password only.
Where can you use a masked base
Masked Aadhaar can be used everywhere where the identity card is required to be displayed. Such as during travel, during booking etc.
However, to get the benefit of all government welfare schemes, only a copy of common Aadhaar or e-Aadhaar will be required.
What are the benefits of masked base
Your basic Aadhaar number is hidden in the masked base, so that no one can misuse it. However, the rest of the information given in it remains the same, so that it can be easily used as an identity card.
