It often happens that whenever you move to a new house or a new city, you have to change your address on many documents, including Aadhaar. You must be thinking that if your details on the Aadhar card are changed without the document and the hassle is over. So know how you can complete this process online.
Now you can update your address in your Aadhar card without any document. Till now, to update the address in the Aadhar card, it was necessary to have a residential proof. But now if you do not have any such proof, then you can update the address in Aadhaar card with the help of ‘Aadhaar Card Verifier’.
To update the address, you have to first log on to the official website uidai.gov.in. After this, going to the ‘My Aadhar’ menu, click on Update your Aadhar. After this you have to click on ‘Update Demographics Data Online’ and after following all the process you will go to a page. There will be two options on this page ‘Update Address via Address Proof’ and ‘Update Address via Secret Code’.
You have to choose the first option if you have the required valid documents of address proof. Whereas the second option is for the time when you do not have any document. According to UIDAI, one has to first apply for the address validation letter before changing the address. For this, go to https://resident.uidai.gov.in and select ‘Request Aadhaar Validation Letter’ given in the Aadhaar Update section.
When you select it, the Self Service Update Port (SSUP) will open. Now you have to login through your 12 digit Aadhaar number. Then submit by entering the Aadhaar number of the verifier.
Now a link will be received through SMS on their registered mobile number to approve the verifier. By clicking on this link, they will get another SMS, in which OTP will come. The verifier has to be verified by entering OTP and captcha. After this you will receive a Service Request Number (SRN) through SMS.
Now you have to login through SRN and check the address once. If the address is correct, click on the submit button. After submission you will get a letter. Apart from this, the ‘Secret Code’ along with ‘Address Validation Letter’ will be sent to the verifier through post at their address.
After this, you will have to go to the UIDAI website and click on ‘Proceed to Update Address’. Login using your Aadhar card and select the option of Update Address via Secret Code.
After entering the ‘Secret Code’, check the new address and click on submit. Now note down the ‘Update Request Number’ (URN) that appears on the screen. Through this number you can check the status of your updated Aadhaar.
