According to the Meteorological Department, monsoon is going to arrive before time this year. South-West Monsoon is going to hit Andaman and Nicobar before time. According to IMD forecast, monsoon is likely to reach Andaman Nicobar on May 19. After that the monsoon will move towards other parts of the country. Although every year monsoon arrives in Andaman and Nicobar by 22nd May, but this year it may arrive 3 days earlier.
According to the Meteorological Department, the El Nino system is weakening in the country and La Nina conditions are becoming active, which is favorable for a good monsoon this year. For this reason, monsoon may arrive in India before time. At the same time, along with La Nina, Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) conditions are also becoming favorable for a good monsoon this year, which are positive signs for the monsoon.
More rain than normal expected this year
There is a possibility of more than normal rainfall in India this year in monsoon. Even at the beginning of this month, IMD had predicted more than normal rainfall in the month of May. There is a possibility of thunderstorm and rain continuing in the southern states of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala for the next two days.
When will monsoon hit different states?
Southwest Monsoon is expected to enter Andaman and Nicobar Islands by May 19. After this it will reach Kerala between June 1st. Conditions have become favorable for the monsoon to move from the Bay of Bengal towards mainland India, so it is estimated that the monsoon will enter the Indian border by May 19. If we talk about the normal date of arrival of monsoon, it reaches Maharashtra by 10th June.
Then moving ahead, on June 15, it reaches Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Bihar. Whereas, on June 20, it hits the interior areas of Gujarat, central parts of MP and Uttar Pradesh. However, the Meteorological Department has not yet given any date for the arrival of monsoon in these states. The Meteorological Department is continuously monitoring the monsoon activities.
