Monsoon Update: These days, severe heat continues to wreak havoc in many parts of the country including North India. People are waiting for rain and monsoon, so that they can get some relief from the heat. Monsoon may enter Kerala by the end of this month and after that monsoon may move towards other states. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has given good news to the people of Maharashtra and said that monsoon may hit Pune city in Maharashtra around June 9-10. Apart from this, monsoon is likely to reach Mumbai on June 11.
Rain activities over Kerala are likely to increase towards the end of the first week and beginning of the second week, leading to the onset of Monsoon over Kerala around May 31 with a margin of ±4 days. “Overall, rainfall activity is likely to be above normal over East and North-East India, near normal over Central and South Peninsular India and below normal over North-West India,” the IMD said in its weather bulletin on Thursday. ”
No official statement has been issued yet regarding the entry of monsoon in Mumbai. However, almost normal monsoon onset over Kerala and absence of anticipated cyclones over the Arabian Sea or Bay of Bengal are creating favorable conditions for timely onset of monsoon rains over Mumbai. According to Indian Express, monsoon has entered Andaman and is expected to reach Mumbai between June 10 and 11.
When does monsoon arrive in Mumbai?
Monsoon usually arrives in Mumbai on June 11. However, last year there was a delay of two weeks in the rains in Mumbai due to adverse weather conditions like Cyclone Biparjoy. Although Mumbaikars will have to wait till the second week of June to enjoy the monsoon, the pre-monsoon rains will provide respite from the scorching heat.
