Such indications are being received from the latest forecast of IMD i.e. India Meteorological Department. On Tuesday, the Meteorological Department has said that there are chances of rain in most of the states of North West, West, Central, South Peninsular, East and Northeast during the next 5 days. Also, the monsoon trough is also active.

Also, Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, Coastal Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana and Rayalaseema may receive rain for 5 days.

According to IMD, heavy rain is expected in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh till August 2, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh till July 30 and August 1, West Rajasthan till July 31, Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat region, West Madhya Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh till August 2, Vidarbha on August 1 and 2, Odisha till August 2, Sub Himalayan West Bengal on July 30, August 1-2, Jharkhand till August 1, Gangetic West Bengal till August 1.
Five people died due to landslide in Wayanad
Five people including two children were killed in landslides at several places in Wayanad district of Kerala on Tuesday morning due to continuous heavy rains. Officials said that four people including a child in Choorlamala town, while a one-year-old child of a Nepali family was reported dead in Thondarnad village due to landslides.
He said that the landslide affected areas include Mundakkai, Choorlamala, Attmala and Noolpuzha villages. United Democratic Front (UDF) MLA T Siddiqui said in a video message that officials are planning to evacuate people trapped in the Mundakkai area by helicopter. He said, ‘At present we do not have complete information about the missing and dead in the landslide. Many areas have lost contact. NDRF personnel are trying to reach these places.’
Meanwhile, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said in a Facebook post that two Air Force helicopters will soon fly from Sulur to Wayanad to help in search and rescue operations. According to officials, many families have been shifted to various camps or their relatives’ homes in view of the massive landslides.
