IMD issued weather update in 25 states, alert of rain, snowfall and fog

Weather Update: There is dense fog in Delhi-NCR today. The weather department has given an alert of changing weather from today and rain in some places, dense fog in some places and cold wave in some places till January 15. Let us know what is the latest weather condition?

IMD Weather Update: Dense fog, snowfall and cold wave continue to lash the country. The Meteorological Department has issued a weather alert from January 10 to January 15. There are chances of rain in more than 10 states due to the activation of a western disturbance on the night of January 10 today. There will be snowfall in the hilly states, due to which dense fog will prevail in some plains and cold wave may also prevail. After several days of cold wave in Delhi, dense fog prevailed today on Friday. Moga district of Punjab was the coldest with a minimum temperature of 2.3. Sonipat in Haryana was the coldest with a minimum temperature of 3.1. The minimum temperature recorded in Chandigarh was 6.1. Clouds may rain in these states

According to the Meteorological Department, Western Disturbance is active in the form of cyclonic circulation over Southwest Iran. Due to its effect, light to moderate and sporadic rain and snowfall is likely in the western states of the country. There is a possibility of rain in the Himalayan region, North West India and the plains of adjoining Central India on January 11 and 12. On January 11 itself, there will be an alert of light, moderate rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning in Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Western Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. There is also a possibility of hailstorm at some places.

A cyclonic circulation is active over the southeast Bay of Bengal and the adjacent equatorial region and in the Indian Ocean. Due to its effect, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on January 11 and 12. Heavy rains are expected over Kerala on January 13 and over Mahe on January 12 and 13. Light to moderate rains with thunderstorms and lightning are likely at isolated places over northeastern states on January 13. Overall, most parts of South Peninsular India, adjoining Central India and plains of Northwest India are likely to receive above normal rainfall.

Alert of cold wave and dense fog also

According to the Meteorological Department, cold wave is likely to prevail in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh on January 10. On January 11-12, dense fog is likely to prevail in Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan at night and in the morning. There will be fog in different parts of Bihar in the morning till January 12. There will be dense fog in different areas of Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Western Rajasthan and Eastern Rajasthan till January 15.

Alert for rain in Delhi-NCR

According to the Meteorological Department, there will be an alert for light rain in Delhi-NCR today and tomorrow. Today, on Friday morning, Delhi-NCR is covered in such dense fog that there is zero visibility. Today, on January 10, 2025, the maximum temperature was 18.92 °C. The minimum and maximum temperatures during the day are expected to be 10.05 °C and 21.93 °C. There is 19% humidity in the air and the wind speed is 19 kilometers per hour. The sun rose at 7:15 am and will set at 5:41 pm. On Thursday, the maximum temperature was 21.2 °C and the minimum temperature was 4.8 °C. Talking about the last 24 hours, the minimum temperature in Delhi-NCR has dropped by 3 degrees Celsius. There was smog/fog with surface winds coming from the northwest direction.
