Monsoon Updates: There is good news for the people suffering from the scorching heat. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that the south-west monsoon, the lifeline of India’s agriculture-based economy, has hit the Nicobar Islands, the southernmost region of the country, on Sunday. “Southwest Monsoon has advanced into parts of Maldives, Comorin area and parts of South Bay of Bengal, Nicobar Islands and South Andaman Sea on Sunday,” the weather office said. At the same time, monsoon is likely to reach UP by June 20. Moreover, monsoon usually reaches Bihar by June 15.
Recently the Meteorological Department had expressed the possibility that this year the monsoon is likely to reach Kerala by May 31. According to the IMD, the onset date of monsoon over Kerala has varied widely over the last 150 years, the earliest being 11 May 1918, and the latest being 18 June 1972. Last year, monsoon reached Kerala on June 8, 2022, May 29, 2021 on June 3 and June 1 in 2020. IMD had predicted above normal rainfall in the monsoon season in India.

When does monsoon reach UP-Bihar?
Due to the heat in many states including UP-Bihar, people are eagerly waiting for the rain. It is not becoming easy to get out of the house during the day. The Meteorological Department has given the date when monsoon reaches different states. According to the Meteorological Department, monsoon hits Uttar Pradesh on June 20, while in some parts the monsoon arrives by June 25. In Bihar its knock comes early and it reaches by 15th June. At the same time, in some areas of Madhya Pradesh, monsoon reaches till 15th June and in some areas till 20th June. Talking about Rajasthan, the dates of arrival of monsoon here are 25th June, 30th June and 5th July. Monsoon is expected to reach Maharashtra by June 10. Monsoon reaches Chhattisgarh by June 15.
