IMD Alert: An alert of heavy rain has been issued in the northeastern and northern states of the country for the next few days. Four people died and more than 100 were injured in Bengal due to the cyclonic storm.

There is a possibility of hailstorm in Himachal, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh. At the same time, yellow alert has been issued due to cyclonic storm in the north-eastern parts. The weather hit here on Sunday when four people died and more than 100 were injured in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal due to the cyclonic storm. The severe weather conditions have also affected Assam. Due to heavy rain here, a part of the roof of Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati collapsed.

The Meteorological Department informed in its bulletin that there is a possibility of hailstorm in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and East Madhya Pradesh. Similar situation will prevail in East MP, Maharashtra also. At the same time, there may be rain in Arunachal Pradesh from April 1 to April 4. There is a possibility of heavy rain at some places here.

Yellow alert in northeastern states

There is a possibility of heavy rain in Assam and Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur and Tripura on April 1. There may also be heavy rain in Assam and Meghalaya. IMD’s Local Meteorological Center (RMC) in Guwahati, in a special bulletin, has issued an ‘alert’ for Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh for Sunday. RMC said that there is a possibility of lightning, heavy to very heavy rain and strong winds blowing at the speed of 30-40 kilometers per hour in the states. RMC has issued ‘Yellow Alert’ for these states for the next four days.

4 died due to storm in Bengal

On the other hand, four people died while more than 100 people were injured due to the ‘sudden’ cyclonic storm that struck parts of Jalpaiguri district of West Bengal on Sunday. Many huts and houses were damaged, trees were uprooted and electric poles fell as strong winds accompanied by hailstorm lashed most parts of the district headquarters town and several areas of neighboring Mainaguri, officials said. Rajarhat, Barnish, Bakali, Jorpakdi, Madhabdanga and Saptibari have been most affected due to the storm and crops grown in several acres of area have been damaged.

At the same time, the Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of 2 to 4 heat waves in different areas of MP, Vidarbha and Karnataka. Heat wave will persist in Rayalaseema till April 4 and in Telangana till April 2.

The maximum temperature in the country’s capital Delhi was recorded at 35.2 degrees Celsius on Sunday, which is one degree Celsius above the average. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said relative humidity in Delhi ranged between 85 percent and 27 percent. On Monday, partly cloudy sky and strong winds (at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour) are expected. The maximum and minimum temperatures in Delhi on Monday may be 34 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius respectively. According to IMD data, the maximum temperature recorded in the month of March in Delhi was 34.3 degrees Celsius in 2023 and 39.6 degrees Celsius in 2022.
