Weather Update IMD Alert: The latest forecast of IMD says that there is a possibility of rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh from Monday to Thursday.

Weather Update IMD Alert: The national capital Delhi and its surrounding areas witnessed mild sunshine on Monday. Due to this, the minimum temperature in the morning was recorded at 11.4 degrees Celsius, which is 3.8 degrees Celsius above normal. People have got relief from the harsh cold. However, a light layer of fog prevailed in many parts of North India including Delhi. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has given this information. According to the IMD, the relative humidity in Delhi was recorded at 91 percent at 8.30 am.

The Meteorological Department has forecast clear skies throughout the day and said that the maximum temperature may remain around 26 degrees Celsius but rain and snowfall is forecast in the hilly states, especially Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, for the next three to four days. Due to this, the mercury may fall further in the coming days and the cold may increase again. The latest forecast of the Meteorological Department says that by the weekend the mercury may again drop by three degrees to reach 8 degrees Celsius.

On the other hand, in Himachal Pradesh also, the minimum temperature was recorded three to six degrees Celsius above normal at most places, which brought relief from the severe cold in the state. However, despite the weather being dry, there was no significant change in the maximum temperature. The local weather center has predicted rain and snowfall at some places in the high mountains on Monday and Tuesday, light to moderate snowfall at some places on Wednesday and light to moderate snowfall at many places on Thursday. The IMD has predicted cold wave in the lower hill areas on Friday.

On the other hand, amidst the severe cold in Rajasthan, dense fog prevailed in many areas on Monday as well. According to the Meteorological Department, dense fog is continuously prevailing in many areas of the state. During this period, the minimum temperature was recorded at 6.8 degrees Celsius in Pali, 8.9 degrees Celsius in Jaisalmer and Ganganagar, 9.2 degrees Celsius in Pilani, 9.3 degrees Celsius in Sirohi and 9.6 degrees Celsius in Alwar. The minimum temperature in the capital Jaipur was 14 degrees Celsius. According to this, due to the effect of a new western disturbance, rain is expected at some places in Jaipur, Bharatpur and Bikaner divisions on January 22.

Where and when is the rain expected?

The latest forecast of IMD says that there are chances of rain and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh from Monday to Thursday. Similarly, there may be rain and snowfall in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand from Monday to Thursday. The Meteorological Department has also predicted rain in the national capital Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh on Wednesday and Thursday. Apart from this, light rain may occur in western Uttar Pradesh as well. Light rain is also predicted in some areas of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday.

Where is the western disturbance active

According to the IMD, the reason for this is the western disturbance, which is currently active 1.5 km above the mean sea level over western Rajasthan and adjoining Pakistan. Due to this, a cyclonic circulation has formed in this area. According to the Meteorological Department, another western disturbance is formed in the upper troposphere on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, due to which a sub-jet stream is likely to form over northwest India. Due to this, winds are likely to blow from West Uttar Pradesh via Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan. According to the Meteorological Department, due to these geographical conditions, rain is expected this week.
