The people of Delhi will continue to get respite from the heat for a few more days and there are chances of rain in the next few days. According to the Meteorological Department, there will be relief from the heat due to wind blowing in Delhi. The Meteorological Department believes that there may be rain at some places in Delhi and Haryana from May 7 to 10. Also, on May 8, winds may blow at a speed of 20 to 30 kilometers per hour in Delhi.

The minimum temperature recorded in Delhi on Saturday morning was 23.3 degrees Celsius, which is one degree Celsius less than the average temperature of this season. At the same time, the maximum temperature was estimated to be around 38 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department had predicted cloudy weather with drizzle and strong surface winds during the day.

It is noteworthy that, the Meteorological Department (IMD) had said earlier this month that in most parts of North India including Delhi, the maximum and minimum temperatures in the month of May may be above normal and heat wave may last for two to four days. IMD chief Mrityunjay Mohapatra had told a press conference on Wednesday, May 1 that the maximum temperatures are likely to be above normal in most parts of the country except North-West India and some parts of Central India and Peninsula India. According to him, the mercury is likely to remain below normal in North-West India and parts of Central India and Peninsula India.

Mahapatra said that similarly, except some parts of North-West India, Ganga plains, Central India and most parts of North-East India, the minimum temperature in most areas of the country may also remain above normal. He said that the maximum temperature in the month of May is expected to be above normal in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Western Uttar Pradesh and North Rajasthan. Mahapatra also predicted more than normal rainfall in most parts of the country.
