IMD Monsoon Latest Updates: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light rain in Delhi on Friday (June 14), which is expected to bring relief from the scorching heat in the national capital. The maximum temperature recorded at Safdarjung Observatory on Thursday was 44.8 degrees Celsius, which is 4.9 degrees Celsius above normal. At the same time, the minimum temperature was recorded at 29.4 degrees Celsius, which is one degree Celsius higher than the average temperature of this season. The temperature recorded at Safdarjung Observatory is considered the standard of the city.

The Meteorological Department said that the maximum temperature was recorded at 45.1 degrees Celsius at Najafgarh weather station, while the maximum temperature was recorded at 45.3 degrees Celsius in Narela, 46.4 degrees in Aya Nagar, 46.3 degrees in Ridge and 45.8 degrees Celsius in Palam. ‘Orange’ alert is issued for the national capital. According to the IMD bulletin, the relative humidity was between 15 percent and 58 percent.

In the latest bulletin of IMD, partly cloudy sky has been predicted on Friday and thundershowers and light rain or drizzle is expected at some places in the afternoon and evening. However, IMD has also predicted heat wave in some areas on Friday and strong winds at the speed of 35 kmph. According to IMD, the maximum and minimum temperatures on Friday are likely to be around 44 and 30 degrees Celsius respectively.

In the latest update on monsoon, the Meteorological Department has said that the southwest monsoon is expected to advance in Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh and some more parts of the northwestern Bay of Bengal during the next three-four days. The Arabian Sea branch monsoon has so far entered southern Chhattisgarh and Odisha and South Gujarat after Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, but the Bay of Bengal monsoon has been stuck on the Bengal-Bihar border since June 3. The Meteorological Department has predicted that the Bay of Bengal monsoon may also advance in the coming week and bring relief to the people of Bihar-Jharkhand and eastern Uttar Pradesh.

IMD has said in the latest bulletin that the southwest monsoon has once again become active in Assam and Meghalaya, while it has weakened in Telangana. The IMD forecast says that thunderstorms and strong winds are likely at isolated places in Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha in the next 24 hours. Heavy rains are expected at isolated places over Konkan and Goa.

According to the Meteorological Department, winds are likely to blow at a speed of 35 to 45 kmph along the coasts of Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa during the next 24 hours, which may increase to 55 kmph. During the next 24 hours, rain may occur at some places in Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Vidarbha and at isolated places in Marathwada.
