An Indian Railways spokesperson said that due to fog, 18 trains coming to Delhi were running late by up to six hours. At 5.30 am, the visibility level was 25 meters in Patiala, Amritsar, Ambala, Hisar, Bikaner and Purnia and 50 meters in Churu, Ganganagar, Jhansi, Ranchi, Paradip and Lakhimpur. Visibility level at Palam Observatory near Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi was limited to 50 metres. By 8:30 in the morning it improved to 350 meters. Due to early morning fog in North and North-East India, road, rail and air traffic was significantly affected in the last fortnight.
