If your account is in the country’s second largest government bank PNB, then this news is very important for you. Because PNB has made a big announcement regarding the Cheque Book. Punjab National Bank (PNB) has told its customers that the existing Cheque Book of Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) and United Bank of India (UBI) will be closed from October 1. So if you have an old Cheque Book of these banks, then apply for a new check book, so that you do not face any problem in further transactions. You can easily get a new Cheque Book by going to the bank.




OBC and UBI were merged with PNB on 1 April 2020. Now everything from the customer to the branch of both the banks belong to PNB. PNB said through social media that, from October 1, 2021, the old Cheque Book of e-OBC and e-UBI will be closed. Please get the old Cheque Book of OBC and UBI replaced with new check book of PNB. This Cheque Book will come with the updated IFSC code and MIRC of PNB.

PNB tweeted that the customer can apply for a new checkbook through a bank branch or bank ATM or PNB ONE. Apart from this, customers can also apply for updated new Cheque Bookof PNB through internet banking. PNB has said that the IFSC and MIRC codes of PNB will be written on the new Cheque Book. A toll free number 18001802222 has also been issued by the bank. Customers can call on this number to get details about the Cheque Book.




Indian Financial System Code (IFSC) is an 11 digit code. In this code, the first four letters indicate the name of the bank. IFSC is used during online payment. Any branch of the bank can be tracked through that code. Each branch of the bank has a separate IFSC.

Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) code is a 9 digit code. It identifies those bank branches which use (Electronic Clearing System). This code consists of details like bank code, account details, amount and check number. This code is located at the bottom of a check leaf.
