How much will the fine be
If you have opened Basic Savings Bank Deposit Account (BSBDA) under Jan Dhan Yojana, then you can make monthly transactions only 4 times. For doing more transactions, you are fined by the bank. SBI and PNB made so much recovery
The country’s largest government bank charges Rs 17.70 as a charge on such accounts. SBI has recovered about Rs 300 crore from about 12 crore BSBDA account holders during 5 years from FY 2014-15 to 2019-20. At the same time, Punjab National Bank has recovered Rs 9.9 crore from 3.9 crore BSBD account holders during the same period.
A study by IIT Bombay has revealed that most banks, including State Bank of India, are making huge money from these accounts through penalty, service charge etc.
