Delhi Metro A new advisory has been issued regarding carrying liquor bottles in the Delhi Metro. DMRC said that the rules of the excise policy of the state in which you are travelling will be applicable in the Delhi Metro. If you are in Delhi, then the rules of Delhi will be applicable, if you are in UP, then the rules of UP and if you are in Haryana, then the rules of Haryana will be applicable.
Delhi Metro: Excise rules of the respective states will be applicable in the case of passengers being allowed to carry two sealed liquor bottles in Delhi Metro trains. DMRC has given this information. Apart from the national capital, Delhi Metro also runs in the cities of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Therefore, the excise rules are different in these states.
DMRC said that if passengers are going out of Delhi by traveling in the metro, then they need to be careful about the excise rules.
Permission for two bottles was given last year
DMRC had allowed in June last year that a person can carry two sealed liquor bottles in metro trains. The Delhi government objected to this and said that it is against the excise rules.
Delhi Metro runs in Faridabad, Gurugram in Haryana and Ghaziabad and Noida in Uttar Pradesh. DMRC Managing Director Vikas Kumar said that the rules made by the Delhi government under the excise policy will be applicable in the metro.
Permission to carry one bottle
According to the Excise Act, only one sealed bottle of liquor like rum, vodka and whiskey can be carried from one state to another. Delhi Metro also goes to cities of other states and allowing a passenger to carry two sealed bottles would be a violation of the Excise Act.
What DMRC said
If you are traveling by metro in Delhi, UP and Haryana, then the excise rules of these states will be applicable in these cities.
DMRC said that if a passenger boards the train with two liquor bottles in Delhi and goes towards UP, then he should understand that he has two bottles to comply with the excise rule of that state. Therefore, if only one liquor bottle is allowed, then he should carry only one.
