After clicking on the PDF icon here, a PDF file will be downloaded. In which EPFO has told this important information about EDLI scheme, which is a very good news for all PF members-

The Employees Deposit Affiliate Insurance Scheme 1976 (edli scheme) provides life insurance benefits to all employees who are Employees Provident Fund Scheme 1952 or Employees Provident Fund and Pr. A. Members of the Provident Fund Scheme exempted under Section 17 of the Act 1952.

The EDLI scheme is supported by a nominal contribution by employers (0.5% of the monthly wages, maximum salary limit up to Rs. 15000). No contribution is payable by the employees for obtaining insurance cover under this scheme. The benefits payable by the Central Government under GSC Notification No. GSR 299 (E) dated 28.04.2021 under the NSIBI Scheme (EDLI Scheme) has been increased.

Benefits Extended Under EDLI Scheme: –

  1. Under paragraph 22 (3) of EDLI scheme, the maximum benefit payable to eligible members of the family of the mortgagor employee was first Rs. 6 lakhs, which has now been increased to Rs. 7 lakhs.
  2. The minimum insurance benefit of Rs 2.50 lakh payable under paragraph 22 (3) of the EDLI scheme, which was implemented for only two years from 15.02.2018, has been reinstated from 15.02.2020. Hopefully, this will be especially beneficial for the families of BF members who died due to the Kovid-19 epidemic.
  3. Another beneficial provision included in EDLI scheme is that from 28.04.2021, a minimum benefit of Rs 2.50 lakh and maximum benefit of Rs 7 lakh will be provided to the eligible family members of those deceased who have more than twelve months. Has maintained its plan membership and employment for a sustained period. Earlier this benefit was available only when the matric staff was working in the same establishment for 12 months before his death. It is expected that this will be particularly beneficial for contract workers as well as other employees who frequently change their jobs. Beneficiary members who were not in employment during the period of 12 consecutive women prior to the month of their death will continue to be paid benefits under paragraph 22 (1) of EDLI scheme to the beneficiaries concerned.
