Static password new service has been launched in the new website of Income Tax . 8.46 crore users have registered on the IT e-filing portal. In the assessment year 2020-21, 3.13 crore ITRs have been e-verified. Let us know what is static password and how to generate it.
What is a static password?
To login to the e-filing portal, you have to authenticate at two levels. It is like another layer of security. Static password is a similar type of authentication. Static password will be very useful when there is no network connection or mobile because without network there will be no OTP or EVC on mobile.
Let us know how to generate Static Password.
1. Login using the credentials https://www.incometax.gov.in/
2. Click on My Profile
3. On the menu on the profile page, click on Static Password.
4. On the left menu, click on Generate Static Password
5. Read all the instructions related to Static Password
6. Click on Generate Password
7. The generated Static Password will be sent to the register e-mail id
8. 10 static passwords are generated in one go. Use anyone to login, the password you use cannot be used again. These will become invalid after 30 days.
9. Use ANYWHERE to login to the portal
How to know the status of Static Password?
1. Login to Income Tax Portal using credentials
2. Go to Profile
3. Click on a password
4. It will show the number of active passwords and their validity. will display.
5. Click on Static Password Resend.
6 You will get unused passwords on the mail id.
