There are two ways to verify
With the help of the official website of the Income Tax Department, you can check the authenticity of the notice received from the Income Tax Department in two ways. You can verify it with the help of your PAN. Or you can do this work with the help of Document Identification Number (DIN).

- First of all go to the Income Tax website https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/.
- Here click on “Quick Links” and click on “Authenticate Notice/Order Issued by ITD”.
- Choose the verification process using either PAN or DIN.
- If you want to check with PAN then you have to fill the document type (notice, order), assessment year, issue date and mobile etc.
- On choosing DIN option, you will have to enter mobile number for DIN and OTP verification available on the notice.
- An OTP will come on your mobile number.
- Enter the OTP in the prescribed space and click on Continue.
- After this the tool will automatically confirm whether the notice you received is real or fake.
