A person in Gaya district of Bihar is making rounds of the Income Tax Department these days. The Income Tax Department has handed over a notice of 2 crores to a person doing a private job of 10,000 rupees. The victim has been identified as Rajiv Kumar. Rajiv says that he earns 10,000 rupees a month. I have never thought of such a huge amount in my life. Rajiv’s entire family is in shock due to this notice. Now he is unable to understand what will happen next.
Rajiv told that he is a simple laborer. We have to earn our daily bread. Rajiv has been making rounds of the Income Tax Department office for the last four days, but his problem has not been solved yet. Rajiv told that even if he keeps working as a laborer all his life, he will never be able to earn such a huge amount.
This is how he received a notice of 2 crores
Rajiv told that on 22 January 2015, he had made a fixed deposit of Rs 2 lakh in Corporation Bank (Gaya Branch). Which he withdrew before maturity on 16 August 2016. Despite this, he has been sent a notice of Rs 2 crore by the Income Tax Department. It has been told in the notice that in the year 2015-16, Rajiv had made a fixed deposit of Rs 2 crore. The return of which has not been filed. Along with this, the tax amount has also not been deposited. Rajiv has been asked to pay a fine of Rs 67 lakh within two days. Rajiv says that I do not have any information related to income tax. Rajiv was told by the Income Tax Department that this may be a technical mistake. He has been advised to file an appeal. If this mistake is found, then it can be corrected through appeal.
What is the option
If any such person receives a notice in a wrong manner, then he should appeal to the Income Tax Department. The department should be given information related to his income and bank account. Apart from this, such a person needs to submit his bank statement, PAN card and other necessary documents.
