How to register on e-filing site

Registration on the e-filing website of Income Tax Department is necessary to file the return. Only after this you will be able to log in to this site. If you are going to file the return for the first time, then you will have to first go to https://www.incometax.gov.in/ for registration. Here you have to click on ‘Register’. Then you have to enter your PAN in ‘Register as a Taxpayer’. After that click on Validate.

How to file income tax return

After logging in to the e-filing site, you will first have to select either online or offline. Then you have to tell your filing status. Then you have to choose the right ITR form for yourself. Then you have to check the pre-filled details in your ITR form. You have to pay special attention to tax calculation. If you do a job, then you can use the data of Form-16. Others can check the data of TDS etc. in Form 26AS and Annual Information Statement. After entering all the information, you have to verify your ITR details.
