If you have not yet filed your ITR, then you have time till July 31, 2023 to settle this work. Just remember that along with filing the tax return, you will also have to e-verify ITR. What are the rules on ITR Verification?
When you will fill your ITR on the e-filing portal of the Income Tax Department, you will also be given the option to e-verify the ITR. There are three options available in this – to e-verify immediately, to e-verify within 120 days and to verify offline. If you choose I would like to e-verify then you have to verify immediately by entering prevalidated bank and demat account details with Aadhaar OTP or EVC and then submit the ITR. Keep in mind that you have to enter the EVC or OTP within 60 seconds, otherwise the form will be auto-saved and then you will have to do the verification later.
If you choose the option of verification or offline verification within 120 days of filing, then your ITR will be submitted now, but the process will remain incomplete, you will have to verify it later by going to the e-verify return option, or Bengaluru CPC has to send ITR verification form.
What are the methods to e-verify ITR?

- OTP on Aadhaar registered mobile number
- From EVC generated with your pre-validated bank account
- From EVC generated with your pre-validated demat account
- From EVC in ATM (offline method).
- Through NetBanking

How to e-verify ITR? (Steps to e-Verify income tax return)
Step 1- First of all go to the portal of e-filing and log in. On the home page, you will see the option of e-verify Return, click on it.
Step 2- On the e-verify return page, enter your PAN, choose assessment year and mobile number along with the acknowledgment number of ITR, then click on continue.
Step 3- Now enter the 6 digit mobile number received on your mobile number and submit it.
Step 4- But if you are filing ITR after 120/30 days of filing then click on OK.
Step 5- You have to enter condonation delay request here. And why the delay has happened, the reason has to be given, it can be selected from the dropdown menu.
Step 7- Now choose one of the above mentioned methods of e-verify and then e-verify.
