Australia New Visa Rules: Under the new visa rules, Indian students will now be able to work in Australia for a maximum of 48 hours in 15 days. No such time limit has been imposed in elder care.
New Visa Rules: There is good news for Indian students studying in Australia. The changes in visa rules announced by Australia in April 2023 have been implemented from July 1, 2023. Indian students have been given the option to work in Australia for 8 years without a visa. Working hours for students have been increased to 48 hours per fortnight. Extension of work visa for two years has also been given.
Agreement was signed between India and Australia
India and Australia last month signed a migration and mobility partnership agreement to open opportunities for students, academic researchers and business people. Under this agreement, under the Mobility Arrangement for Talented Early-Professionals Scheme (METS), Australia will give 3000 young professionals from India every year the option to work in Australia without a visa for a maximum of eight years. Apart from this, Indian students will be able to spend two years in Australia even without a visa sponsor.

Under the new visa rules, from July 1, all student visa holders will be able to work a maximum of 48 hours in 15 days. However, no such time limit has been imposed in elder care. The purpose of this rule is to make students serious about their education.

METAS is actually a temporary visa program, which encourages graduates in fields like engineering, mining, financial technology, artificial intelligence, information and communication technology, agricultural technology, renewable energy to work in Australia. To be eligible for the METAS visa program, candidates must be below 31 years of age. They should have obtained their education from a recognized and verified university and should be in the initial stage of their career.
Reformed the immigration system
Australia said this April that it intends to reform its immigration system to speed up bringing highly skilled workers into the country. To lure skilled migrants, the government said the visa process for high-skilled professionals will be made faster and easier and steps will be taken to retain international students.
