When do I get my refund?
Crores of people in the country travel by train every day. At present, due to cold, many trains of North India are running late. Due to this many passengers are facing problems. However, Indian Railways is taking steps to run the trains on time.
If you are also going to travel by train and your train gets late, then you can easily get full refund of your ticket. According to the rules of Indian Railways, passengers can claim for refund if the train is late.
Passengers can claim a refund only if the train is late by more than 3 hours. However, no refund is given on cancellation of confirmed Tatkal ticket.
If the train is running late by 3 hours and you do not want to travel, you can take back the entire amount by claiming a refund. For refund claim you will have to file Ticket Deposit Receipt.
You can file TDR by visiting the official website of IRCTC. Apart from this, you can also surrender the ticket by going to the ticket counter. After which you will get full refund.

How to file TDR
- First of all you have to log in to the IRCTC website.
- After this, select “File Ticket Deposit Receipt (TDR)” in the ‘Services’ tab.
- Now go to My Transactions and click on “File TDR”.
- After this your claim request will be sent to Railways.
- The refund amount will be credited to the same bank account from which the ticket has been booked.
