According to the Railway Minister, 6 berths in sleeper class in long distance mail and express trains will be reserved for women.
Indian Railway News: A great news is coming from the railways for women passengers. Soon they are going to get the gift of reserved berths in long distance trains. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has made a big announcement in this matter. He has said that in order to give comfortable travel to women passengers in long distance trains and for their safety, Indian Railways has decided to allot special berths for women and along with that some other facilities will also be provided.
How many berths will be in the name of women?
According to the Railway Minister, 6 berths will be reserved for women in the sleeper class of long distance mail and express trains. He said that the same number of berths will be reserved for women in the 3AC class of Garib Rath, Rajdhani, Duronto and Fully AC Express trains. This quota will be applicable to all women passengers, their age will not be considered for this. Neither will it be considered whether they are travelling alone or with a group of women.
Reserve berths for women, elderly and pregnant women too
The Railway Minister said that 6-7 lower berths in every sleeper coach, 4-5 lower berths in 3AC coach and 3-4 lower berths in 2AC coach will be reserved for senior citizens, women above 45 years of age and pregnant women. He said that under this, seats will be reserved as per the reserved quota on the basis of coach in the train. He said that this special arrangement is being done for the safety of women and all other passengers.
The aim of ‘Meri Saheli’ is also the safety of women
The Railway Minister said that RPF and GRP have already been instructed to provide full security to women. They are working as per the orders of the governments of different states. Indian Railways has also started a special initiative ‘Meri Saheli’ since last year, under which the safety of women passengers is ensured.
