Indian Railways freight trains running at the speed of express trains on this route

Indian Railways generally operates 700 meters long Goods Trains. At the same time, the freight trains running on the New Khurja and New Bhaupur section of Les Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) with modern technology and global facilities are up to 1,500 meters. New Delhi.  To reduce the pressure of Goods Trains on Indian Railways tracks, the Narendra Modi government of the Center is working on a Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) project. Under this, the government is constructing the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor and the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor. Prime Minister Narendra Modi (PM Narendra Modi) inaugurated the 351 km long New Khurja and New Bhaupur section of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor on 29 December. The objective was clear that the goods could be safely transported to the destination more quickly. On this section goods trains are running at a speed of more than 90 km per hour.

More than 50 freight trains operated in 6 days

The railway normally handles 700 meters of freight trains. However, with modern technology and global facilities, the length of freight trains running on the Les Dedicated Freight Corridor is up to 1,500 meters or 1.5 km. With this, not only goods are being transported to the destination fast, but transportation is also taking place at an economical rate. So far 53 freight trains have been run on this section. Of these 53 trains, 32 trains were run between New Khurja and New Bhaupur. The top speed of these trains was 93.70 km per hour. At the same time, 21 goods trains were run between New Bhaupur to New Khurja. His top speed was recorded at 85.98 km per hour.

Transportation of coal, jute, petroleum, containers, iron and steel and other minerals was done on a large scale on this new railway section which started from 29 December. These goods were transported to North Central Region and Punjab and Haryana. Apart from this, rice, wheat and food grains were also transported from Punjab. Not only this, empty wagons for loading of fertilizer, steel and coal were also sent to eastern India. On December 29, Prime Minister Modi flagged the 1.5 km long freight train from New Khurja to New Bhaupur. 9,400 tonnes of food grains were loaded into it. It was loaded from Faridkot and Mullanpur in Ludhiana in Punjab. At the same time, power coal was loaded from Ranchi, Jharkhand and Singrauli in Madhya Pradesh in a 1.5 km long goods train coming from New Bhaupur to New Khurja.




Dedicated Freight Corridor to be completed by June 2022

The Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor and Western Dedicated Freight Corridor being constructed by DFCCIL is to be completed by June 2022. Out of this, the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor will be 1,856 route km and the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor will be 1,504 route km. The Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor will be from Sahnewal near Ludhiana in Punjab to Dankuni in West Bengal. This corridor will pass through Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand. At the same time, the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor will be from Dadri in Uttar Pradesh to Jawaharlal Nehru Port in Mumbai. This corridor will pass through Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat.
