The rules for ticket booking have been changed from November 1. Indian Railways has made this change keeping in mind the convenience of the passengers. From today, whether you book tickets online from IRCTC or go to the platform and book from the ticket window, you will get the booking of tickets only under the new rules.
Train ticket booking rules changed from today
From today i.e. November 1, 2024, the rule for advance booking of railway tickets has been changed. Now you will be able to book tickets 60 days in advance instead of 120 days. Railways has abolished the rule of starting ticket booking 120 days before the journey and reduced it to 60 days. According to the Railways, the new rules for advance train ticket booking will not have any effect on the already booked tickets or the journey of the passengers.
Who will benefit from the new rule
Railway passengers will benefit from the advance ticket booking deadline being reduced from 120 to 60 days. People will find it easier to get confirmed tickets. The number of ticket cancellations will also decrease. Booking tickets 120 days in advance used to lengthen the waiting window. People used to cancel tickets at the last minute as they were not able to travel on tickets booked 120 days in advance. When the booking window opened 120 days in advance, only 11 percent of people booked tickets. The highest number is of those who booked tickets 45 days in advance. Let us tell you that you can book tickets from IRCTC’s website, app and railway booking counters. Every day 12.38 lakh tickets are booked from IRCTC alone.
Ticket cancellation rules
In 2015, the railways increased the advance reservation period from 60 days to 120 days. The new rule will reduce IRCTC’s earnings from cancellations. However, there has been no change in the 365 days advance ticket booking deadline for foreign tourists. The rules for ticket cancellation are the same as before. In such a situation, if you are planning to travel in the coming days, then definitely know about the new rules.
