Railways Ticket Transfer Rules: Many people book tickets well in advance. But, due to some sudden work or some other reason, they do not travel. In such a situation, many passengers cancel the ticket. Many people feel that they have no other option. But, it is not so. Apart from cancelling the ticket, you can also transfer your ticket to someone else. For this, you just have to fulfill some conditions. Railways have made rules for transferring confirmed reserved tickets. Every rail passenger should be aware of these rules.
According to the rules of the Railways, if you are not traveling for some reason, then you can also transfer your confirmed ticket to someone else. Cancellation charge is also not deducted for doing this. Indian Railways rules say that you cannot transfer your train ticket to everyone. You can transfer the ticket only to your family members. Family members include father, mother, brother, sister, son, daughter, husband and wife.
Due to this rule of the railways, you can transfer your train ticket to your brother, but not to your brother-in-law. Because, the list of family members prepared by the railways does not include sister-in-law, brother-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law, maternal uncle, cousin, cousin brother and sister.
This is how the ticket will be transferred
The name of the passenger can be changed from the reservation counter only 24 hours before the departure of the train. Whether the ticket is purchased from the counter or booked online, one has to go to the ticket counter to change the name in it. The print out of the ticket and a photocopy of the identity card of the person to whom the ticket is to be transferred has to be submitted at the reservation counter. After this, the name is changed on the ticket taken online or from the counter.
This facility will not be available on waiting or RAC
Ticket can be transferred only once. The most important thing is that your ticket should be confirmed. You will not be able to transfer waiting or RAC tickets.
