Indian Railways tries to provide comfortable travel to the passengers. They should not face any kind of trouble during the journey. It is mandatory for railway employees to follow these rules. If this is not done, a complaint can be lodged on which railway officials can take action.

Director Information and Publicity of the Railway Ministry says that this rule is only for passengers travelling in AC. It is not for general and sleeper. According to the Indian Railway Manual, if the destination station of a passenger travelling in AC coach of premium trains Rajdhani, Tejas, Duronto or Express trains arrives between 10 pm and 6 am, it is the responsibility of the TT to wake him up 10-15 minutes before the arrival at the station. Indian Railways also gives a ‘wake up’ memo to every TT for this.

When the TT is checking the ticket, he comes to know which station a particular passenger will arrive at and at what time. Accordingly, the passenger’s name and seat number have to be written in the memo. Before reaching the station, the coach attendant has to be sent and informed about the upcoming destination station. If any TT is negligent in this, then a complaint can be lodged against him.
