Train travel with alcohol: Know what the rules are
Keeping in mind the convenience and safety of passengers, Indian Railways does not allow certain items to be carried in the train, which also includes alcohol. If passengers violate this rule, they have to face strict action.
Strict rules and punishments
Traveling with alcohol in the train is completely prohibited. For doing so, action can be taken against the passenger under Section 165 of the Railway Act 1989, which includes a fine of up to Rs 500 and jail up to 6 months. Additionally, the passenger’s ticket can also be cancelled.
Prohibition states
Liquor prohibition is strictly enforced in some states, such as Bihar, Gujarat, Mizoram, and Nagaland. In these states, travelers face strict legal action if caught with alcohol.

Rule: Carrying any kind of liquor in the train is prohibited.
